Lance Archer Advances In IWGP US Title Top Contender Tournament At NJPW Collision In Philadelphia

Lance Archer moves on.

Lance Archer defeated Fred Rosser at NJPW Collision in Philadelphia, advancing to the finals of the IWGP US Title Number One Contender’s Tournament.

Archer was helped out by Juice Robinson, who was originally supposed to be in the match. Robinson attacked Rosser and knocked him out with a roll of quarter. Archer finished him off with a lariat.

Before the match began, Archer turned things into a street fight in honor of being in the old ECW Arena.

With this victory, Archer will face the winner of Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Will Ospreay at NJPW Dominion on June 4. The bout between Tanahashi and Ospreay goes down at NJPW Resurgence on May 21.

The winner of the tournament will challenge Kenny Omega for the IWGP US Championship.

After the bout, Archer addressed his history with Ospreay, Tanahashi, and Omega, saying Omega needed the Good Brothers (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) to beat him last time, noting they are currently “in jail up north.”

Archer was originally scheduled to face Juice Robinson, but Robinson was suspended following NJPW Capital Collision for his assult on Rosser. Robinson attacked Rosser before their scheduled match and then laid him out with a chair, reversed for Robinson’s wife Toni Storm, and a roll of quarter. With Robinson suspended, Rosser took his place against Archer.
