LA Knight: Arrest Angle On 3/22 WWE SmackDown Helped Get Some Eyes On My Match With AJ Styles

LA Knight says his feud with AJ Styles has picked up, so it’s not as much of a sleeper match.

LA Knight says his feud with AJ Styles has picked up in recent weeks, so it’s not as much of a sleeper match.

The rivalry between AJ Styles and LA Knight has rapidly heated up heading into WrestleMania 40. Knight even attacked Styles at his house on the March 22 episode of WWE SmackDow. He was arrested, but Styles did not press charges.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, LA Knight was asked to share his mindset heading into the match against Styles.

“For me, it’s kind of like, I did an interview last night and somebody was like, oh, this could be the sleeper match going into WrestleMania.’ I’m like, that to me feels like a problem. Shouldn’t be a sleeper. But you look at how star-studded this WrestleMania is and I kind of get it to a degree. But at the same time, I look at the last two weeks with what AJ and I have done, and I feel like we’ve actually all of a sudden got some eyes on us. I think between me going and getting arrested at his house, and last week with the whole security thing going on, I think we’ve picked up a little bit,” Knight said.

Co-host Tommy Dreamer noted that the arrest angle felt authentic, as some of his friends texted him and wondered whether Knight was actually arrested. Knight noted that they actually had the Gainsville Police Department, so it came across as legitimate.

“It was because you had, it was legit the Gainesville police were there, and somehow they got the body cam footage, the dash cam footage. All that stuff was all put together. It was pretty crazy,” Knight said.
