Kurt Angle: It Was In The Contracts That We Couldn’t Crossover To UFC And UFC Couldn’t Come To WWE
UFC and WWE are officially under the same umbrella, merging to form the publicly traded company TKO. Though they operate separately, both are under the enterprises of Endeavor.
There has been plenty of crossover between WWE and UFC over the years with WWE superstars attending UFC events and UFC fighters trying their hand at WWE.
However, according to Kurt Angle, a UFC fighter under contract couldn’t do WWE and vice versa.
“I know that Dana [Dana White] and Vince [Vince McMahon], their contracts have specifically, ‘You can’t go to WWE.’ If you’re WWE, ‘You can’t go to UFC.’ They were going against each other when they shouldn’t be. WWE should be worried about AEW, not UFC. Before the merger, I don’t know what’s going on now. In their contracts, it was ‘you can’t crossover to UFC, UFC can’t crossover to WWE,'” Angle stated on the Joe Rogan Experience.
An exception was made for Brock Lesnar, who competed at UFC 200 despite being under WWE contract.
Kurt Angle nearly joined the UFC on multiple occasions, but things never quite aligned for the Olympic Gold Medalist. You can find his comments on not competing in the UFC by clicking here.
