Kurt Angle: It’s Unfortunate I Spent My Best Years In A Smaller Company, But That’s A Choice I Made
Kurt Angle wrestled his last match at WrestleMania 35 and has no plans to return.
Angle was defeated by Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 after a short retirement tour on television that saw him square off with the likes of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Apollo Crews, and Chad Gable. Speaking to Mark Freund, Kurt was asked about the possibility of getting back in the ring.
“I had my time. I’m at the age of 51. My body is pretty banged up. I had a great career. It’s unfortunate that my best years were with a small company and not with WWE, but that’s a choice I had to make. I did it for my own benefit and my own health. That was the right decision to make. I was able to travel all over the world and go see many things that many people don’t get to see. I took advantage of that. I would tour countries and cities and see their cultures and see what they would do and see their famous places. That was the most interesting part of my career,” he said.
Angle left WWE in 2006, joining TNA/IMPACT. WWE and Vince McMahon were reportedly concerned with Angle’s health, leading to his departure from the company.
