Kurt Angle: I Never Thought There Would Be Another Kurt Angle Until Ronda Rousey Came Along

Kurt Angle is very proud of Ronda Rousey.

For the second consecutive year, the current RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle will be a part of WrestleMania. Last year, they teamed together in Ronda’s in-ring debut against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and this year, Kurt Angle is having his retirement match against Baron Corbin and Ronda Rousey is defending her RAW Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in the main event of WrestleMania.

Kurt Angle, his fans and his wife Giovanna have openly voiced that they were hoping for a more marquee opponent for Angle in his final match in WWE. Angle is still looking to pick up a win on Sunday and is happy for the other performers on the card including Ronda Rousey and while speaking with Sky Sports, Angle spoke highly of “The Baddest Woman On The Planet” and said that he feels he is looking in a mirror when watching Rousey in the ring.

“I do see parallels. Whenever I see her she reminds me of myself and it’s very exciting to see that, very seldom do you see that,” he said. “I thought there would never be another Kurt Angle but when I look at Ronda I feel like I’m looking in the mirror. I’m very proud of her and she’s going to continue to get better that’s the scary part. I’m not sure if she’s going to do anything after WrestleMania — she might be taking a break, but I’m looking forward to seeing her coming back and doing some damage.”

Kurt Angle further spoke about Rousey and said she deserves to be in the main event of WrestleMania. The Hall Of Famer added that this was a wake-up call to the men in the locker room that if they want to close the “Show Of Shows”, they’ll have to out perform the women.

“This year has been a great year for women,” he said. “Ronda Rousey has picked it up quicker than any woman ever has and Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are huge talents so I think they deserve it. It’s a wake-up call for the guys. If you want the main event, you’re going to have to out-perform the women because right now the women are doing extremely well.”

After Kurt Angle’s retirement match at WrestleMania, he’ll be heading to Las Vegas for AEW’s Starrcast II on Double Or Nothing weekend where he’ll be signing autographs and taking photos with fans.
