Kurt Angle: Gable Stevenson Proved He’s The Best In The World

Kurt Angle is impressed by Gable Steveson.

Kurt Angle has shared his thoughts on the star that he has been compared to the most.

Gable Steveson, 21, recently won his second straight NCAA Heavyweight National Championship when he defeated Colton Schultz in the finals of the tournament. After signing a NIL deal with WWE last fall, the University Of Minnesota standout is well on his way to becoming the next amateur wrestler turned WWE superstar.

When speaking with Sports Illustrated, WWE Hall Of Famer and also two-time NCAA Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle shared his thoughts on Steveson.

“To be in the very best in the entire world at his age at only 21, it’s very rare and Gable proved he is the best in the world. The way he’s able to shuffle and turn his matches into a dogfight, and then come out on top, he’s really good at that,” said Angle. “He’s such an incredible athlete for his size. Watch his balance, it’s amazing. He has a good knack for knowing where his body and his hips are [and] the kid is so mature, from a physical standpoint and a mental standpoint. He brought a positive light on the sport of amateur wrestling. To me, that is incredible [and] now he has the chance to make a big splash in WWE.”

Steveson was drafted to the Raw brand back in the WWE Draft last October. While it is not known when Steveson is set to make his debut, he has revealed that he plans to be at WrestleMania 38 in one capacity or another.
