Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, June 16, 2023.

WWE SmackDown

–  AJ Styles and Michin faced Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Styles nearly scored the win with the Styles Clash, but Scarlett broke up the pin. When Scarlett tried to distract Styles, he told her he was married. Kross attacked Styles him behind, locked in the Kross Jacket, and slammed him for the win.

Grayson Waller hosted the Grayson Waller Effect and welcomed his guest, Charlotte Flair. When asked whether she would become a 15-time champion, Flair said she had Asuka’s number. Bianca Belair interrupted and took issue with Flair coming back and getting a title shot so easily. Flair said the line began and ended with her. Belair noted that she tried to get a rematch the right way. Flair said she is a champion with or without the title. Belair made it clear she would confront the winner of Flair’s title match with Asuka.

– In the thrilling conclusion to WWE SmackDown, Jey Uso turned on Roman Reigns, and The Usos stood tall.

Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) won a Tag Team Gauntlet Match and earned a shot at the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus and Ridge Holland) eliminated the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins). The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) entered the bout, but Sheamus eventually eliminated them. Ridge Holland eliminated the LWO (Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde), and Sheamus took out Hit Row (Top Dolla and Ashante “Thee” Adonis). In the end, Pretty Deadly scored the win with a blind tag and caught Sheamus by surprise. 

 – Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn confronted Pretty Deadly, and the two teams went back and forth on the mic. Pretty Deadly expressed their confidence ahead of the title match. Owens and Zayn charged the ring, and Pretty Deadly fled the scene. 

– IYO SKY took on Zelina Vega. The two stars clashed in a competitive match, and a mixup between SKY and Bayley cost IYO the match. Tensions continued to rise between the Damage CTRL members due to the loss. 

– Bayley and SKY then argued backstage. Shotzi interrupted and said it was Bayleyt’s fault she wasn’t in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. She challenged Bayley to put her spot on the line against her, and IYO SKY accepted.

– Backstage, Cameron Grimes was asked about his time on SmackDown, and Baron Corbin attacked him. 

– Rey Mysterio came to the ring and said he’s proud of reforming the LWO. He brought out Santos Escobar and said he represented the essence of the LWO. Rey said he could see Escobar winning the Men’s Money in the Bank Match. Escobar looked forward to the Money in the Bank match. He told Rey he loved hiim and he was fighting for him, as well as his family, his people, and anyone in the WWE Universe who had a dream. LA Knight came down and shoved Rey Mysterio. Knight and Escobar brawled. Knight then faced Santos Escobar, and the LWO member scored a hard-fought win. Knight attacked Escobar after the bell, but Rey Mysterio made the save.

– In a WWE Digital Exclusive, Zelina Vega discussed her win and looked forward to WWE Money in the Bank.

– After SmackDown went off the air, The Usos celebrated, and fans chanted “You deserve it” at Roman Reigns.

AEW Rampage

– Will Ospreay scored the pin in a preview of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as he teamed up with Jeff Cobb and Kyle Fletcher to defeat CHAOS (Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, and Rocky Romero).

Matt Hardy confirmed that he and Jeff Hardy will face The Gunns on the June 21 episode of AEW Dynamite and said the second-generation stars would be their stepping stones to the tag team titles. Jeff said they would make The Gunns famous.

– Aubrey Edwards, Mark Briscoe, and Papa Briscoe defeated Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett, and Jay Lethal, as Edwards made Karen tap out.

– Konosuke Takeshita defeated Bandido in a hard-fought main event.

– Taya Valkyrie defeated Trish Adora.

– Backstage, Taya Valkyrie was asked about her win, and she was approached by TBS Champion Kris Statlander, who agreed to give her a title shot. 

– Mark and Papa Briscoe commented on their victory.

– Colten Gunn sent a heated message to The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy).
