Kota Ibushi Off NJPW’s ‘New Beginning’ Tour Due To His Concussion

Kota Ibushi will be taking some time off.

“The Golden Star” Kota Ibushi defended the NEVER Openweight Championship against Will Ospreay in the opening match of Wrestle Kingdom 13. There were a number of moments during the match when Kota took blows to the head and neck area but there was one shot in particular that laid Ibushi out. Ospreay went in for his signature elbow smash to the back of his opponent’s head and it connected flush this time around and ultimately gave Ibushi a concussion and Ibushi had to be stretched out after he was defeated by Ospreay. 

During today’s New Japan Pro Wrestling post-Wrestle Kingdom 13 press conference, one of the big stories coming out of the conference was that Kota Ibushi is taking the ‘New Beginning’ tour off because of his concussion.

 

Major news is surrounding NJPW at the moment because KUSHIDA and Kenny Omega are both leaving the company and to read more on their respective departures, click on their names.
