Kota Ibushi Feels He Hadn’t Learned “Real Pro Wrestling” Before Coming Into Contact With Liger
Kota Ibushi talks about what he has learned from Jushin Liger.
35 year veteran of professional wrestling, Jushin Thunder Liger will have his retirement match at the Tokyo Dome in 2020 at Wrestle Kingdom 14. Liger’s opponent will be decided within the coming months. Liger has also been promoting the forthcoming Super J-Cup tournament that will be held on the West coast of the United States in August.
Prior to the opening day of the G1 Climax 29 tournament in Dallas, a former 3-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion in Kota Ibushi joined Wrestling Observer Radio. Ibushi was asked for his thoughts about Liger’s retirement and what he has learned from Liger. Ibushi shared that Liger has been a help since his first Best Of The Super Juniors tournament in 2009 and credited Liger for helping learn “real pro wrestling”.
“The first Best Of The Super Juniors that I fought in, I had a lot of words from Liger and Liger advised me to work more on the ground level more and I hadn’t properly learned real pro wrestling until then so I really learned a lot from what Liger told me at the time. So, he was a very good teacher.” Ibushi explained via a translator.
