Kona Reeves Released By WWE
Kona Reeves has been released by WWE.
Fightful reports that Kona Reeves has been released by WWE on August 6.
Reeves was signed by WWE in May 2014. He made his WWE debut at a NXT live event in April 2015 and made his television debut on the May 4, 2016 episode of NXT, losing to No Way Jose. He used the names Noah Kekoa and Noah Potjes before adopting the Kona Reeves moniker in November 2016.
He was used on and off on television until April 2018 when vignettes aired dubbing him “The Finest” Kona Reeves. Though he was a regular at live events, he still struggled to find a permanent role on television. He would make appearances for EVOLVE and NXT UK during his time with the company.
He last wrestled on the February 19, 2020 episode of NXT, losing quickly to Keith Lee.
Fightful Select posted the following update on Kona Reeves on June 13:
We’ve had a lot of inquiries for an update on Kona Reeves, who has been out of action for over 15 months following a surgery. We’re told he’s been back at the Performance Center for quite some time and is more than good to go, and has been making creative pitches for a significant character change based on what we’ve seen of him in the past. Reeves was briefly given a push in 2018 before being pushed back down the card, but we’ve had numerous guest coaches specifically point him out as someone they’ve enjoyed working with when they came in for spots at the Performance Center.
