Kofi Kingston: We’ve Wanted A Match With The Young Bucks For A Long Time

New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, & Big E) are arguably the most decorated trio in WWE history and any combination of the three are viewed as one of the top tag teams in the world.

New Day has wrestled some of the top teams and duos throughout their run, which began in 2014. One team on the dream list of Kofi Kingston is The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), who are viewed as one of the best and most influential teams in the last decade.

“There are a lot of people. We’ve been wanting to have a match with the Young Bucks for a long time. It’s a special time,” Kofi told Scott Fishman of TVInsider when asked if there was anyone he would be looking to recruit from the outside.

Speaking about wrestlers who he has squared off with in the ring, Kofi named his top five opponents in WWE.

“We’ll keep Usos as one. I’ll say the Usos for sure. If you’ve seen our tag matches, then I don’t need to explain it. Dolph Ziggler, he and I joke that back in the day we could have a best-of-500 series. Every match was always fun and incredible. I actually like having matches with Sami Zayn because of the visceral reactions he is able to garner from the crowd. Kevin Owens is actually really good. His skill level is amazing. Our matches are always great. Edge is really good. One of the first for me. When you’re in the ring with him, you just know it’s going to be good because he is an amazing storyteller and competitor,” he said.

Kingston & Woods are set to defend the NXT Tag Team Championships in a fatal four-way bout at NXT Vengeance Day against Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson), Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang), and a team that has yet to qualify.
