A-Kid Says British Rounds Rules From NXT UK Heritage Cup Translates Well Into Modern Wrestling
NXT UK Heritage Cup winner A-Kid is a fan of how the tournament matches are done in the modern era.
Unlike most wrestling matches, the Heritage Cup had matches were done under British Round rules, which is best exemplified by its six-round format with each round only lasting three minutes. In an interview with Metro, A-Kid said the British rounds system is something that can be done well in today’s wrestling landscape.
“It is such a unique style, and I think it also translates well into the modern era,” A-Kid said. “The fact you can watch three minutes of wrestling, then go back to your phone and chat with your friends – ‘How cool was that?’ – and then watch three minutes more. I think it’s so good for the moment we’re living in!”
One person A-Kid has his eye on for a while is Undisputed ERA’s Kyle O’Reilly, whose style A-Kid believes would make for a great match.
“I’ve been studying him so much. I’ve been watching his work since he was in the independents and all through NXT. I would love to have that match,” A-Kid said.
On the November 26 episode of NXT UK, A-Kid defeated Trent Seven to win the Heritage Cup. You can read the full interview at this link.
