Kevin Owens Says His Match With Sami Zayn At WrestleMania 37 Is A Dream Come True

Kevin Owens is pumped to be facing Sami Zayn at WrestleMania.

On the March 26 edition of WWE SmackDown, Zayn appeared as a guest on the KO show and revealed that Logan Paul would be attending the red carpet event for the premiere of his documentary’s trailer. Owens, tired of being asked to be part of the film, challenged his longtime friend and rival to a match at WrestleMania 37.

Appearing on Talking Smack, Owens had this to say about the significance of the bout:

“It’s really hard to put into words what it means to our careers because we’ve been joined at the hip really since we met in 2002, almost twenty years ago. I like to say we’re more like brothers than friends because we never chose to be friends with each other. Right? You don’t choose your relatives, you’re just born into a family and whoever you’re related to, you’re related to. So Sami and I, where we came from, Quebec, it was really hard for people to get outside of the province and make their names in wrestling. Then when we started getting a bit of a buzz, all these wrestling companies, these independent companies would bring us together and we had no choice. They would say ‘we want the best two, and that’s you two.’ So we’d have to drive together, 12, 13, 14 hours. We’d have to fly everywhere together. It was just the way it worked out. So that’s why I like to say he’s more like a brother than a friend.”

Beyond the thrill of fulfilling a longtime dream, Owens is hoping that he can knock some sense into Zayn and get him to stop obsessing over a conspiracy theory. He said the following:

“Of course, the last few weeks, the last few months the Sami Zayn that’s been coming out, that’s not exactly the guy I’ve known for almost two decades… I’ve always respected the hell out of him because in that ring, even you can’t deny that he’s one of the best. The problem I’ve had is the last few months this conspiracy theory stuff that he’s harping about in this alternate reality he seems to live in, it’s taken him away from being one of the best in the ring… He blames everybody for what’s happened to him and I’ve tried to talk sense into him and it didn’t work out, but that’s okay because at WrestleMania I get to knock sense into him. I get to beat sense into him. If I’m going to do that to my brother, I can’t think of a better place to do it than at WrestleMania.”

As for Zayn’s special-guest next week, Owens claims to have no opinion on Logan Paul. He said that “whatever he’s here for, that’s their problem.” At the end of the day, their WrestleMania match is a dream come true and a special moment for them and all the people who have followed their careers. Here’s what Owens said:

“All I care about is WrestleMania in two weeks. Me and Sami Zayn, it’s a dream come true. It’s also going to turn out to be kind of a nightmare for him. Hopefully, once it’s all said and done, I’ll have managed to beat some sense into him and the old Sami will be back and he can straighten things out and get back on the more righteous path. I’m really pumped about WrestleMania because deep down in the end, when you strip everything else, the conspiracy theory, this YouTube guy, you put it all aside, it’s Kevin Owens versus Sami Zayn at WrestleMania. You don’t understand how many people have followed our careers for almost two decades who are so pumped to see it happen. Our families. Our fans who’ve been loyal to us, it’s a great feeling.”

Owens ended his appearance on Talking Smack by asking Paul Heyman if he think Roman Reigns will successfully defend his Universal Title at WrestleMania. He then said that he’s a big fan of the Money in the Bank PPV, suggesting that his feud with The Tribal Chief might be far from over.
