Kevin Owens: I’d Like To See How Successful I Can Be As A Face
Kevin Owens wants to play the good guy.
For the majority of his WWE run, Kevin Owens has work the black hat. Owens is portrayed as a dastardly heel who is willing to do anything, and hurt anyone, standing in the way of making money for himself and his family. He’s turned on best friends, aligned himself with top executives, and bucked authority if he felt he was getting an unfair shake.
Speaking to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory, Owens discussed playing a heel in WWE and how he’d like to try something different in the future.
“I love performing. I love playing a heel. I can’t say it’s true [that I love being heel more than face] only because I’ve been a heel for so long that I’m personally ready for something different. I’d love to see how successful I can be as a babyface. My ego tells me I’d be great. I got a tiny taste of it and, for reasons beyond my control, for what the show needed, I had to go back the other way. I’m trying to make that as good as I can, but I still have this need to find out if I’m ready.”
Owens was a face for a few weeks when he aligned himself with The New Day. The run was shortlived as he turned on Kofi Kingston in order to secure a shot at the WWE Title. Owens failed in his quest to win the WWE Title, but he did team with Sami Zayn to defeat The New Day duo of Big E & Xavier Woods at WWE Stomping Grounds.
