Kenny Omega & Young Bucks Confirm AEW Will Eventually Be A Touring Brand With A Full-Time Schedule
Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks reveal more details regarding AEW’s schedule.
Appearing at C2E2 over the weekend, Matt & Nick Jackson and Kenny Omega did an hour-long panel answering fan questions. The trio was asked about the future of AEW, particularly when it comes to their schedule. As of now, AEW only has a handful of events confirmed and, despite many teases, no television deal announced. But the plan is to be a full-time touring brand once they become established.
“We’re going to be a touring brand. Not as crazy as the WWE because we all have families. We’re going to keep that in mind because a lot of wrestlers in the company have families. We’re gonna have certain dates we have to get through. But it’ll be a touring brand for sure,” said Nick Jackson.
Later during the Q&A, the group was asked about contracts and talent being allowed to work for other promotions for the time being.
Nick said, “It’ll depend on what type of contract you’re under. For the three of us, we won’t be doing anything. We might go to China, actually. That’s a spoiler alert. Certain wrestlers, we’re going to want them to not get ring rust so we’re going to encourage them to keep doing their bookings. We want them to be ready.”
AEW has a partnership with OWE out of China, which is likely the promotion the group will end up appearing for.
Omega expanded on Nick’s comments, saying, “Certain people are in their early development phase and we see potential in them and as an investment. But right now, we don’t have the volume of bookings to develop their skills. So we encourage them to honor their bookings. Eventually, we’re going to have a pretty full-time schedule. I would imagine that most people will more or less be with us full-time.”
AEW will hold their first official event on May 25 from Las Vegas. You can view the current announced card for Double or Nothing at Fightful’s events page.
