Kenny Omega praises Jon Moxley.
Omega is often viewed as the MVP of AEW, as he was one of the founders of the company. During his time with AEW, he has won the AEW World Championship, the Tag Team Championship, and the Trios Championship. He has also competed in a number of remarkable matches. Meanwhile. Jon Moxley is widely viewed as the heart and soul of the company, as he has helped AEW get through challenging times, ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the fallout of Brawl Out in 2022. Moxley is also the only three-time AEW World Champion.
Omega and Moxley have feuded in the past; they memorably clashed in an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match at AEW Revolution 2021. The two foes have reignited their rivalry in recent weeks, as the Blackpool Combat Club (Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta) have been waging war with The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks). Moxley and Omega will clash in a Steel Cage match on the May 10 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Omega commented on his respect for Moxley, as both men are driven by a passion for wrestling.
“There is a mutual respect. We respect where we’ve been, what we’re trying to do and where we’re going,” Omega said.
Omega then reflected on his rivalry with Moxley, which dates back to the former WWE star’s debut at AEW Double or Nothing 2019. He called Moxley the MVP of the company and noted that the latter has been at almost every show. Omega expressed his excitement about circling back to their rivalry after they spent some time apart.
“If I’m being honest, the MVP of AEW hasn’t been me. It’s Jon Moxley. For AEW, Jon’s been the one. He’s been at almost every show. He’s bled at almost every show. There is no one higher on the blood-giving list. Maybe that’s what makes this feud so interesting. It’s someone with the notoriety from Japan against someone who was a top player from WWE. And Jon hasn’t stopped working. I was injured, but now that I’m healed up, it’s beautiful that we can restart the song and dance between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley,” Omega said.
Moxley recently discussed the Blackpool Combat Club’s feud with The Elite. Check out his comments here.
