Kenny Omega Blasts WWE For “Lining Pockets With Blood Money And Undermining Charity Show”
Kenny Omega is not happy with WWE.
Earlier today it was announced that EVOLVE’s 10th Anniversary event on July 13 would stream live on WWE Network. This was notable because July 13 is also the date of All Elite Wrestling’s Fight for the Fallen, a charity event where proceeds go to victims of gun violence.
Taking to social media, AEW co-Executive Vice President called out WWE for going head-to-head with AEW’s event.
“If lining your pockets with blood money is okay, then what’s wrong with trying to undermine a charity show for victims of gun violence? I hear that healthy competition is supposed to be a good thing and yet I can’t help but feel like I’m gonna be sick.”
Omega is not so subtly jabbing at WWE for running events in Saudi Arabia, where human and women’s rights are suppressed. WWE is paid a hefty sum by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who was linked to the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. WWE has a 10-year agreement with Salman and his Saudi Vision 2030.
The tweet has since been deleted. Omega offered up the following reply after deleting the tweet:
I’ve said my piece and it opened the door to a very toxic environment. It wasn’t a message to fans, or the boys, just the decision makers. I wish everyone wrestling on any show that day all the best. That is all.
