Keith Lee Reflects On The Anniversary Of Becoming NXT Champion, Asks Fans Not To Give Up On Him

Keith Lee continues to fight.

The last time he fully was on an episode of WWE Raw, he defeated Riddle. This was back on February 8. Lee was then scheduled for a triple threat for the WWE United States Championship at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event, before being pulled from the event with the on-screen explanation being he suffered an injury due to an attack by Bobby Lashley.

This time last year, Keith Lee reached the pinnacle of NXT as he defeated Adam Cole to become the NXT Champion while simultaneously holding the NXT North American Championship. Keith Lee would not even be champion for 2 months as he was defeated by Karrion Kross and swiftly moved up to the Monday Night Raw roster.

Responding to the fans who mentioned that this is the one-year anniversary of his big moment on nXT, Keith Lee would say that he is still fighting to return and there is no quit on him so he implores fans not to give up on him.

In May, Lee said, “Only time will tell,” regarding his return.

In April, Lee tweeted that he would “fight like no other to return.”

In March, Fightful Select posted the following update on Lee:

Keith Lee hasn’t been seen on WWE Raw in well over a month, and Fightful was able to clarify why. While it is true that Keith Lee isn’t currently factored in to WWE creative plans at the moment, this isn’t a case similar to Andrade or Aleister Black where he’s simply not used. Lee was sidelined for health reasons in February, and WWE have not cleared him for a return as of yet. Lee underwent some testing following being sidelined, and WWE sources have indicated that he is actively trying to get cleared. WWE had discussed plans for him to win the WWE United States Championship before he was removed from the WWE Elimination Chamber show. He was later replaced by John Morrison, as WWE sources told us, because the match with Lashley and Riddle being a triple threat was “integral.” As we saw, WWE was protecting Lashley from taking a pinfall ahead of his WWE Title run.

As of now, WWE has not provided an official update on the status of Keith Lee and there is no definitive timetable for when or if he will return to the ring for WWE.
