Kazuchika Okada Wins New Japan Cup; Challenging Jay White For IWGP Heavyweight Title At G1 Supercard

“The Rainmaker” has carved his path to Madison Square Garden.

The end of the road of the 2019 New Japan Cup tournament saw Kazuchika Okada and SANADA battle it out in the finals. After a thirty minute bout, “The Rainmaker” bested SANADA to win his second New Japan Cup and Okada is now set to challenge Jay White for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard show at Madison Square Garden on April 6th.

Jay White and Kazuchika Okada’s history dates back to when Jay White constructed his plan to break down the ‘CHAOS’ stable from the inside and he achieved that goal. White one-upped Okada in the G1 Climax 28 tournament and he defeated Okada again at Wrestle Kingdom 13. The now-Bullet Club member Jay White will have the opportunity to add another win to his record versus Okada next weekend with New Japan’s top prize on the line.

The match card for G1 Supercard currently includes seven matches and during the final New Japan Cup show, Tetsuya Naito continued to attempt to lure Kota Ibushi into challenging for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and Tomohiro Ishii and EVIL took the fight to one another after their six man tag match came to an end.
