Karl Anderson Retains NEVER Openweight Title, Says He’ll See Tama Tonga At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17
Karl Anderson is heading to NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17.
Anderson successfully defended his NEVER Openweight Championship against Hikuleo at NJPW World Tag League and Super Junior Tag League Finals on December 14. Anderson got the victory with the gun stun.
After the match, Anderson proclaimed to be the greatest NEVER Openweight Champion ever and that he would hold the belt for eternity. He was confronted by Tama Tonga, who challenged Anderson for the title, leading to a brawl between the two men.
Anderson said he would see Tonga at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4.
Fightful Select previously reported that Anderson working Wrestle Kingdom 17 had been the plan since August and was still the plan when Anderson & Luke Gallows signed with WWE, making their return to the promotion in October.
