Kairi Sane Says Her Relationship With WWE Is Good

Kairi Sane was written off WWE television in July 2020 and returned to Japan to work as an ambassador for the company.

Her contract with the company reportedly expires in February, but she says things are good between her and WWE.

“I’m just grateful that the relationship is so good, or that it’s been much better. Even after returning to Japan, I think it was unusual for me to prepare a special position,” Kairi told Proresu Today in Japan (translation via DeepL with clarification help).

Kairi is a former NXT Women’s Champion and was moved to the main roster in 2019 to team with Asuka.

“I was suddenly told. I’m told the day before. There was nothing from the coach, and suddenly an email said, ‘Come to the SmackDown venue tomorrow.’ So I didn’t get on the NXT bus, just hugged with Io Shirai. Both of us cried,” she said, noting how the arrival of Io was big for her.

Fightful Select reported Sane’s name was mentioned as possible women’s Royal Rumble surprise, but the appearance never came to frution.

Kairi last wrestled on the July 20, 2020 episode of WWE Raw where she was defeated by Bayley. She is a former NXT Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Asuka.
