Juice Robinson Wins The IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship

Juice has done it!!!!

“Switchblade” Jay White has been reigning supreme as IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion for the past several months. White first captured the title in January at ‘New Beginning’ in Sapporo. Along the way Jay White has bested a number of challengers including his longtime rival David Finlay who Jay has a storied history with dating back to when they both were in the ‘Young Lion’ system. The current score between the two competitors stands at 10-1 in favor of Jay White and in Finlay’s recent attempt to defeat Jay White he failed.

One individual who David Finlay has formed a bond with is the “Flamboyant” Juice Robinson who also has a storied history with Jay White. Juice picked up a victory over White at ‘Dominion’ which has led to this match and along the way the two men exchanged words and fists during the ‘Kizuna Road’ tour. Tonight at the G1 Special Juice Robinson had his sights set on showing why New Japan is where he belongs as he looked to capture the first singles title of his wrestling career.

Both Jay White and Juice Robinson took one another to the limit in a bout that was filled with many moments that had the crowd believing either man could emerge victorious. Jay White capitalized on the damage he did during the ‘Kizuna Road’ tour where he crushed Juice Robinson’s hand while trapping it in between a chair. After all the damage that was done, the closing sequences of the match saw Jay White attempt to hit his “Blade Runner” finishing maneuver a number of times but during his final attempt Juice countered it into a roll-up and was able to keep Jay down for the count of three to become the new IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion and the first American to get their hands on the coveted title as well.
