Josh Barnett On Not Facing Jon Moxley At Bloodsport, Why Chris Dickinson Is A Great Replacement
Josh Barnett opens up on why he’s not facing Jon Moxley at this weekend’s Bloodsport.
Twice now, Jon Moxley’s Bloodsport bout against Josh Barnett has been canceled. He was originally supposed to face Barnett on September 14, 2020, but that match was put off due to Jon dealing with a MRSA infection. It was rescheduled for WrestleMania weekend this year before all WrestleMania weekend shows were canceled due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic.

On Sunday, October 11, MOX finally gets his chance to throw down at Bloodsport, but he will be facing Chris Dickinson instead of Josh Barnett. Barnett explains why in a new interview with WrestlingInc.
“Well, I have some other prior commitments, so I’m not able to actively participate in this one as a wrestler, even though I will be there as a producer and booker, but Bloodsport isn’t just about getting in the ring,” Barnett said. “It’s about the nature of the event itself. The design behind it, and I’m really happy to be able to have Moxley there against someone like Chris Dickinson. And I think they’re going to make for a hell of a main event, and we’re going to continue on that legacy that we’ve been establishing since our very first event.”
Barnett would go on to praise Chris Dickinson saying that he not only booked this match for the physical match-up but for the mental match-up as well.
“Well, Dickinson is as tough and gritty as they come. I know that he’s got all the skills to go out there and perform, but he’s got that something in common with Moxley and that is they’re just down and dirty, and he’s got the guns and it wasn’t just about how their skill set would match-up or weakness, strengths and vice versa, but it was about the mental match-up as well, that spiritual magic so to speak. They both have something in common in that vein, and I figured why not. This is like adding gasoline to the fire, and I love it.”
Fightful will have live coverage of all of the events comprising The Collective 2020, including Bloodsport which will take place on Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern.
