Josh Alexander Explains Why He Is A Great Fit In IMPACT’s X-Division
IMPACT’s X-Division has never been about weight limits and has always been about no limits. Yet Josh Alexander has received some flack for taking part in the division.
Alexander is not your typical X-Division high-flyer, but in a division helped made famous by Samoa Joe, the stylings of Alexander would seem to have a place.
“When I started watching IMPACT, I fell in love with AJ Styles, Amazing Red, and Low Ki right away. Later on, like Samoa Joe, he completely changed my outlook on what professional wrestling could be. He was a big guy being a cruiserweight. I liken myself to that. I can keep up with all these X-Division guys. I see the comments and the naysayers and the people saying they hate this non-X-Division guy like Josh Alexander is being put in X-Division matches. I promise you, I can do a shooting star press and a 450, I just don’t need to. All these other guys are doing it. All these small guys, I’m a great base. I can keep up with them and can put their moves over more. When someone like Vikingo was in the ring with someone like me, you’re going to see me launch him even higher and catch him even better. It makes for better matches and a great contrast. If you have me in the ring with somebody like Chris Bey and we’re moving at the same speed, we’re telling a different story. You need variety and I’m that variety in the X-Division,” Alexander told The Angle Podcast.
Alexander called winning the X-Division title, “one of the biggest things on his bucket list.”
Alexander challenged TJP for the X-Division Championship on the February 16 episode of IMPACT Wrestling, but came up short in his quest to capture the title.
Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, plus a live co-stream on our Twitch channel.
