Josh Alexander Discusses Paying Tribute To TNA At IMPACT Slammiversary

At IMPACT Slammiversary, Josh Alexander defended the IMPACT World Title against Eric Young.

During the bout, Alexander and Young paid tribute to the past by using moves perfected by TNA/IMPACT staples Christopher Daniels, Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, and Samoa Joe.

Alexander pinned a tweet on his profile with a side-by-side comparison of him paying tribute to TNA talent with moves and mannerisms.

Speaking on the Alliance Pro Wrestling podcast, Alexander discussed his tributes to TNA.

“When I saw the video, I was just so blown away that the side-by-sides were so authentic or close to being the actual things that have happened in the past. Myself and Eric Young, when we had the Slammiversary match, which is basically where all those clips are, we were trying to tip our caps and have that love letter to TNA and the history of the first 20 years because I was a huge fan and he was part of it. We did that, and that video just solidifies that we did, for anyone that didn’t pick up on those little easter eggs,” he said.

Alexander has become the face of IMPACT as the reigning IMPACT World Champion, but he doesn’t consider himself “the” guy when it comes to TNA/IMPACT history.

“It’s definitely my goal. I don’t think I have,” Alexander said when it was noted that he is the top name associated with TNA/IMPACT. “When people think of TNA or IMPACT Wrestling, they think of a lot of names. I might be in it for some people, but I want to be in it for the majority of people by the time I’m done here.”

Alexander successfully defended the IMPACT World Title against Alex Shelley at IMPACT Emergence. He will learn his challenger for IMPACT Bound For Glory on Thursday’s episode of IMPACT Wrestling when Moose, Sami Callihan, Eddie Edwards, Steve Maclin, Bandido and Rich Swann meet in an elimination bout.

Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT Wrestling beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.
