At AEW Full Gear 2023, Swerve Strickland defeated Hangman Page in a Texas Death Match. The contest sparked some controversy, as it featured plenty of extreme violence. In one spot, Page drank Strickland’s blood.
Jordan Oliver took to Twitter on November 21 and gave a shout-out to Nick Gage. He stated that the former GCW World Champion made deathmatch wrestling mainstream. Oliver shared his belief that he doesn’t think Page and Strickland would have done the blood-drinking spot if Gage never wrestled Jericho.

Gage faced Jericho in a brutal No Rules Match on the July 28, 2021, episode of AEW Dynamite. He memorably sliced Jericho’s head with a pizza cutter while an ad for Domino’s Pizza played. Glass and other weapons were also used during the bout.
