Jon Moxley: As Long As I’m Wrestling, I’ll Wrestle In Japan
It is unknown when Jon Moxley will return to NJPW, but as long as he’s an active competitor, he’ll be back in Japan.
Before Moxley made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing, vignettes began airing in NJPW with a “Time’s Up” attacker targetting Juice Robinson. The attacker turned out to be Moxley, who would debut in NJPW and defeat Robinson to win the IWGP United States Championship. Moxley would then compete in the G1 Climax tournament over the summer. He never lost the IWGP US Title when he was stripped of the title due to a typhoon keeping him out of Japan and causing him to miss his scheduled title defense.
But Moxley has plans to return to Japan at some point in the future.
“As long as I’m wrestling, I’ll wrestle in Japan,” Moxley told Chris Van Vliet. “That’s another cool thing about AEW is that guys can do other stuff outside of AEW. There’s guys wrestling in Mexico, Europe, doing other stuff on the side. The schedule is a little different and you don’t have to run everything through everybody to get everything approved. If you want to do a movie on your off day in WWE, you have to ask permission. I can pretty much do whatever else I want to do. Whatever itch I want to scratch creatively. I was never really comfortable being home because I never had a home. I was always on the road, a different town, couch surfing, or whatever before WWE. The last however many years in WWE , on the road however many days a year. When you’re home for 36 hours a week for years on end, you just get used to being on the move. If I had a few days off, I’d start to feel weird. Then you get back on the road, you feel comfortable again. Then I had that full month of just being home. And I got a hell of a taste for it now.”
Moxley has previously said he would wrestle at Wrestle Kingdom 14, but he is not currently scheduled for a match at the event. Moxley is currently undefeated in AEW. He picked up a victory over Joey Janela on Wednesday’s Dynamite in the main event.
