Jon Moxley Is Flattered People Thought He Was Making A Run-In At WrestleMania XL, But He Was Asleep

Jon Moxley comments on WrestleMania XL, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns.

Even though Jon Moxley has not been a part of WWE since 2019, Dean Ambrose’s place in The Shield is forever etched into the annals of WWE history. The other two members of The Shield, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, were front-and-center at this year’s WrestleMania, competing against one another in a tag team match on the first night of the event as Roman teamed with The Rock to face Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Then, on the second night of WrestleMania, Seth would make a run-in during the Undisputed WWE Universal Title match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

Seth’s run-in was preceded by The Shield theme song and some fans thought Dean Ambrose might have actually been coming out for this monumental occasion. Of course, that was not the case.

Jon Moxley, in a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, said that he’s flattered by the thought and excitement for his potential WrestleMania appearance, but he was actually sleeping in Japan when it happened.

“I was asleep in Japan when that was going on,” said Moxley, who had traveled to Tokyo for a tag match with Shota Umino against Jack Perry and Ren Narita. “When I woke up, I had these messages saying, ‘I thought you were coming out!’ And I was like, ‘Coming out where?’

“It’s cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep.”

As for what he thinks of what Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have been able to accomplish, he has nothing but love for his former Shield brethren and thinks it’s cool what they’ve been able to do.

“What they’ve done, it’s a really cool thing,” said Moxley, speaking about Reigns and Rollins. “We were nobodies. We came in with attitudes, and we pretty much said, ‘We’re coming in, fuck you, and we’re taking this shit over.’ The more time that passes, the more it becomes evident that we did exactly what we said we were going to do.”

Tony Khan would state that he was never contacted about John Moxley potentially appearing at WrestleMania. Learn more here

Moxley is happily the first man in history to become the WWE Champion, AEW Champion, and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. On April 24, he will defend the IWGP World Title against Powerhouse Hobbs.
