Johnny Swinger Sprains His Coccyx, Eric Young Reflects On His Career, And More | IMPACT Fight Size


Here is your post-IMPACT fight size update for Thursday, May 19, 2022.

– Tonight’s show began with ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey defeating Laredo Kid to qualify for the Ultimate X match at Slammiversary. He joins Ace Austin (X Division Champion) and Kenny King in the bout. The remaining spots are set to be filled in the coming weeks.

– Ace Austin delivered a promo from Japan in which he tells Mike Bailey that he still needs to pay for his actions. Austin tried to befriend Bailey but was turned on when they fought Trey Miguel for the X Division Title. He continues on to say that he is making history as the first X Division Champion to compete in NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors, but hasn’t lost sight of what lies ahead. He believes his experience in past Ultimate X matches will lead him to glory at Slammiversary.

– Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green sent in a message from their honeymoon in which Cardona tells Rich Swann that if he wants a shot at the Digitial Media Championship, he’s going to have to earn it. Green added that she is enjoying life while all of the other Knockouts “duke it out” ahead of Slammiversary. She is confident that at the event she will become a two-time Knockouts Champion when she wins the first-ever Queen of the Mountain match.

– Mia Yim, Taya Valkyrie, and Jordynne Grace defeated Tasha Steelz, Savannah Evans, and Deonna Purrazzo in Six-Knockouts tag team action.

– During the newest edition of Locker Room Talk, Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood were interrupted by Johhny Swinger and Zicky Dice and then again by Rosemary and Havok. The Decay duo want a shot at the Knockouts Tag Titles but the champions were less than willing to grant them an opportunity.

Zicky then stood up and exclaimed that he recognized Havok from The Dungeon. She proceeded to push him onto Swinger, after which he claimed to have sprained his coccyx.

– Chris Sabin challenged his old rival Frankie Kazarian to a match on next week’s episode of IMPACT. Later in the show, the bout was made official.

– Ahead of his World Title match at Slammiversary, Eric Young looked back on his career and why he is deserving of this opportunity. Through the good and bad, evening “Working for a crazy old man who couldn’t see past the end of his own nose and being discarded like a piece of garbage,” here he is.

– Maria Kanellis tried to interfere in Matt Taven and Mike Bennett’s match, but after Bennett accidentally speared her, it was The Good Brothers who would emerge victoriously.

– Sami Callihan said that he has spent the last year in isolation thinking about the different ways that he can make Moose’s life a living hell.

– After her ninth straight victory, Masha Slamovich was confronted by Havok. Slamovich had been asking for stronger competition and Havok answered the call. The two women will face off next Thursday.

– W. Morrissey showed up to backup Bhupinder Gujjar after Shera and Raj Singh challenged him to a fight. The two sides agreed to face off next week though the match has yet to be made official by IMPACT.

– In the main event, The Briscoes defeated Joe Doering and Deaner to retain the IMPACT Tag Team Titles. Eric Young and Josh Alexander had a staredown after the match which led to a brawl between all of the men. Alexander and The Briscoes would stand tall as Violent By Design retreated to end the show.
