John Cena Joins Cast Of Matthew Vaughn Spy Film ‘Argylle,’ Filming Set To Begin Next Month

John Cena has landed his next movie role.

Per Deadline, director Matthew Vaughn has assembled a star-studded cast for his forthcoming big-budget action film, Argylle. According to the report, Cena will be joined by Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara and Samuel L. Jackson.

Dua Lipa is also set to make her acting debut with Argylle and will provide original music for the title track and score.

The film is based on a yet-to-be-released spy novel from author Ellie Conway and follows “the world’s greatest spy,” ‘Argylle,’ as he is caught up in a globe-trotting adventure.

Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass, Layer Cake, Stardust) who will direct and produce (via his banner, MARV) commented on the project, saying: “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”

The press release also states that the movie will be the first of at least three films in the franchise and is set in America, London and multiple locations across the world.

Filming is scheduled to begin next month in Europe.

WWE was reportedly hopeful that Cena would face Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam, but it is unclear if this will create a timing issue. The WWE Legend has been busy, recently working on Fast 9, The Suicide Squad, and HBO’s Peacemaker series.

Cena has been adamant that his WWE career isn’t over and he will make an in-ring return.
