John Cena: “I’m Old Guys, I’m 41, And Performing 310 Times A Year Isn’t What’s Best For My Overall Health”
John Cena shoots the breeze about knowing his limits.
The man who once carried the WWE on his back for a number of years is coming to terms with knowing that being on the road for the hectic WWE schedule is not in his favor anymore. The former 16-time WWE World Champion’s last complete program in the sports-entertainment company was leading up to his WrestleMania match with The Undertaker and prior to that it was the build to the ‘Elimination Chamber’ PPV. Since those programs John Cena has been away dipping his hands into other projects and setting himself up for life after wrestling.
John Cena’s next match will come in the WWE World Cup tournament in-which he is joined by Rey Mysterio, The Miz, Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler to determine “the best in the world”. Coming out of WWE Super Show-Down on October 6th, the media ran into John Cena and one of the individuals who had the chance to catch up with Cena was independent street journalist Adam Glyn and towards his the end of his talk with Cena, Cena discussed his future plans and stated that he will always be a part of WWE but being on the road for long periods of time is not what’s best for his health and added that professional wrestling is a young man’s game.
“No, no, I feel the most healthy I’ve ever felt in my life. I’ve chopped twenty pounds. I’ve learned some stretching techniques over in China that my body actually feels great, but full disclosure I can’t run at the full demanding schedule at 41-years old that the current WWE superstars do.” Cena said. “They go everyday, all the time and it is a young man’s game and I think there’s some folks out there that certainly because of what I’ve said and done in the past are like, ‘Ahh you’re hypocritical’. I’m old guys, I’m old. I’m 41, and performing 310 times a year isn’t what’s best for my overall health. I want to be able to run the streets at 80, instead of hobbling around so I’m at a point in my life where I kinda gotta think more long term. That doesn’t mean I’m leaving the WWE. I’ll never leave the WWE, it’s my home, but I have to think of my long term overall health. Right now this is probably the best play for me.” Cena concluded.
