Joey Styles Says He Wont’ Doubt Vince McMahon About Roman Reigns
Joey Styles, company man?
The former Raw and ECW announcer turned WWE.com employee Joey Styles has been in the wrestling business for well over 20 years, calling some of the businesses’ most memorable moments, from John Cena’s 2008 Royal Rumble return, to virtually everything in ECW. Styles has also made his mark with an infamous ‘worked-shoot’ promo on Raw, and landed in wrestling lore for punching Smackdown color commentator JBL backstage.
Styles has never been portrayed as a ‘company man’ per se, but in a recent Facebook Live Q&A, Styles was asked about Roman Reigns being a babyface, and why he’s been forced down the throats of fans for such an extended period.
“The bottom line is, if our chairman thinks he sees a future star as a babyface, that’s how things are going to play out. The answer is Vince thinks it can work. He’s been right much more than wrong over the course of the last 40 years. I’m sorry, but I’m not going second-guess the chairman,” said Styles.
Reigns had been given a huge push in the WWE prior to his failed WWE Wellness Test last month. Reigns has since lost three consecutive televised matches cleanly.
