Joe Mogavero Talks Steve Austin Influence At Rough N Rowdy, Potentially Getting Into Wrestling

“The Black Italian Stallion” Joe Mogavero returns to the boxing ring on August 18 for Rough N Rowdy.

Mogavero is 2-0 in his Rough N Rowdy career and will take on American Redneck for the Superheavyweight Title.

Mogavero is a longtime wrestling fan with ties to “Jacked” Jameson Ryan from ROH, and pays tribute to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin with his entrance music and wearing a Steve Austin vest.

Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Stephen Jensen on The Spotlight, Mogavero discussed his “Stone Cold” tribute.

“I’ve been a huge wresting fan since I was little. I had a coloring book in middle school, and I drew a picture of Stone Cold. I was always a wrestling fan, Stone Cold and The Rock were always my favorites. I have a bunch of pictures of them in my man cave. I was fully engulfed in the WWE back in the day. Stone Cold always fired me up, his music, that glass breaking, it gets me going every time. Went online, found a vest, I’ll be wearing it out again and walking out to the glass breaking again,” he said.

Mogavero even noted that his mom had to console him as a kid when he watched Shawn Michaels being taken off on a stretcher.

When asked if he’d consider crossing over to the world of wrestling, Mogavero replied, “That would obviously be unbelievable. That would be really cool if that could ever happen. I’d be so fucking down for that. Just to be on the side and be the guy who gets kicked in the face, I would do that. That would be fun for me.”

Mogavero earned high marks from Barstool executives for his last performance against RJ “The Hammer” Harris.

A win on Saturday would mean being a RNR Champion, and potentially other opportunities with Barstool.

“I imagine it’s like some of the wrestlers. When you start to show people what you’re worth and the fans are liking it, people are talking about it and you have that buzz, then they’re like, ‘Okay, we need to have this guy back. We’ll keep getting those fans, we’ll keep getting this action and entertainment as long we get these guys back to the show.’ It makes sense,” said Joe.
