Jimmy Uso Gets His Own Theme Song, Mike Santana, Roderick Strong And More Speak | WWE SD x AEW Recap

Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, September 1, 2023.

WWE SmackDown

– Jimmy Uso is on his own, and for the first time in his career, he has his own theme song. However, the new presentation did not help him during a confrontation with John Cena.

– Later in the night, a confrontation Jimmy had with AJ Styles would lead to a match between AJ and Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso would get involved in that encounter as well, helping Solo pick up the W.

– John Cena will be the host of WWE Payback, and he also spoke about his future in a WWE digital exclusive. Learn more here.

– Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens picked up a non-title victory on September 1. They then issued a warning to Finn Balor and Damian Priest that the street fight at WWE Payback would be the fight of their lives.

– Bobby Lashley says he is paired with The Street Profits because real recognizes real, and they’re coming for gold.

– Grayson Waller and Austin Theory defeated Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio of the Latino World Order. At WWE Payback, Theory will try to wrestle away the United States Championship from Rey Mysterio while Waller hosts Cody Rhodes on his talk show.

– Baley lost to Shotzi on September 1 thanks to interference from Charlotte Flair.

– The Miz got the better of LA Knight at the end of a very heated exchange on September 1. They will now come to blows at WWE Payback.

AEW Rampage

– Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, and Matt Menard were interviewed on September 1. They claimed that being a part of the Jericho Appreciation Society led to them being left out of the Wembley Stadium show. Still, they plan on getting back on track by winning the Trios Championships.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Roderick Strong. However, Strong declined to address Paquette’s questions concerning Adam Cole, stating that he would discuss Col when he was good and ready.

– Mike Santana addressed his comeback to AEW in a vignette. Santana recounted his journey from his AEW debut through his father’s untimely passing and his injuries during the 2022 Blood & Guts Match. Now, he’s inviting the audience to come along as he shares his story.

– The Dark Order’s Alex Reynolds and John Silver have earned the right to challenge Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Adam Cole for the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship at AEW All Out by way of winning a Battle Royal.

– After that Battle Royal, Aussie Open got into a confrontation with Chris Jericho before Jericho was saved by Sammy Guevara

– The latest episode of QTV saw Johnny TV promising change.

– Nick Wayne and EL Hijo del Vikingo were successful in their first time teaming on AEW Tv, defeating Kip Sabian and Gringo Loco.

– Hangman Page was back in singles action on September 1 and defeated Bryan Keith. 

– In the main event of the evening, Skye Blue & Willow Nightingale picked up a victory in women’s tag team action over the duo of Taya Valkyrie & Anna Jay
