Jim Ross: Wardlow And Will Hobbs Have A Chance To Be The Two Of The Big Foundation Pieces In AEW
Jim Ross believes Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs can be at the helm of AEW one day.
AEW has numerous young stars that are gaining experience each week so that they can step up when names such as Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson are ready to step away. Jim Ross has worked with many of the top names in the last 50 years, even hiring some of wrestling’s megastars during his days atop WWE’s talent relations department. Now, Good Ol’ JR is giving his thoughts on the future of AEW and who the promotion may be able to rely on one day.
Speaking on the latest episode of his Grillin’ JR podcast, Ross singled out Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs as names that have the potential upside to sit at the top of the AEW roster one day.
“Wardlow comes to my mind, quite frankly, and quickly. I think Wardlow is good. I think that Willie Hobbs has got a great upside in the future. He’s got a great look. Wonderful attitude. Those are two guys we just saw wrestle here a while back a week or so ago, with Wardlow winning the TNT Title back. I think both those guys have a chance to be the two of the big foundation pieces in AEW, if TK as he’s known, decides to go that way,” says Ross. “They’re both very good. They’re both young. They’re big, strong, athletic. I really enjoy working with both of those guys. There’s rarely a television that goes by, Conrad, that I don’t spend some time talking to both those guys. Not necessarily together, but where we have a little conversation about how things are going. They’ll ask me questions about the last match they had that they thought I might have seen, and I’ve pretty much seen them all. So I think those two guys are the likely candidates. Are they the only candidates? Probably not, but they’re at the top of the list.”
When Wardlow dethroned Hobbs as the AEW TNT Champion, he had Arn Anderson in his corner. Anderson recently commented on Hobbs’ upside for the future as well. Fans can read Double A’s comments on Hobbs at this link.
Wardlow and Arn will further comment on Wardlow’s title win on the April 26 AEW Dynamite. Check out the full card here.
