Jim Ross Believes Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey Should Headline WrestleMania 35
Jim Ross has his main event for WrestleMania 35.
Becky Lynch is currently the hottest act in WWE and shows no signs of slowing down. Lynch was originally scheduled to face Ronda Rousey at WWE Survivor Series last month, but a stiff punch from Nia Jax on the Monday before the event sidelined Lynch with a concussion. As a result, Rousey ended up facing Charlotte Flair at Survivor Series. The delay in the bout only created more anticipation and many believe WWE could headline WrestleMania 35 with the contest.
Count Jim Ross as one of those believers. Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Ross gave his thoughts on WWE’s fiercest rivalry.
“I would be very comfortable in booking Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey in the main event at WrestleMania,” said Ross. “I wouldn’t be offended if they added Charlotte to that match, but right now, Becky and Ronda would be my match on top. That’s the hottest thing they have going right now. Right now, none of the men are red hot. You can’t say that about the women. They have captivated the attention of the fans. There is no male red hot enough to make me want to supersede putting them above Rousey or Lynch in the main event at WrestleMania.” Ross continued, “WWE can also market to the outside world that this is the first time in history that women are going to close the show. That is an amazing opportunity, and these women would be pioneers for the company.”
WWE Hall of Famer Edge also believes that Rousey vs. Lynch is a tailor-made WrestleMania bout.
Before Becky and Rousey get to WrestleMania, they’ll have to go through WWE TLC next weekend. Lynch is scheduled to defend her SmackDown Women’s Title against Asuka and Charlotte in a triple threat TLC bout while Rousey faces Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Title.
