Jey Uso Says Fans Don’t Know What They Want, Calls His Situation With Roman A Double-Edged Sword

Jey Uso says that he doesn’t have to like his family to know that his family members are the only people he can trust in the wrestling industry.

The top storyline on SmackDown in recent months has seen an internal conflict arise within Jey Uso as he tried to wrestle away the WWE Universal Championship from his cousin, Roman Reigns. Following his loss to Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell in October, Jey Uso made the rough decision falling in line with his cousin’s wishes for the betterment of his family.

Unfortunately, this came at the expense of the physical well-being of Daniel Bryan. After Uso defeated Daniel Bryan in a Survivor Series qualifying match, Roman Reigns ordered his cousin to attack Daniel Bryan after the match leaving Daniel Bryan with a bruised kidney to nurse.

Speaking with Kayla Braxton on the IGTV series, The Braxton Beat, Jey Uso explained his mindset during the attack of Daniel Bryan and confessed that he feels like he is facing a double-edged sword.

“It’s like a double-edged sword, you know, I’m in that position trying to fight from under and you got the whole world saying I don’t belong there. You got the whole world talking a whole bunch of crap like I’m not the guy supposed to be running with this thing and now we give the world what they want to see and now the whole world [says], ‘oh, why you do that? Why you do that?’ Man, y’all don’t know what the hell you want, but I know I gotta do what I need to do to provide for my family.”

He continued, “If this is how it’s gotta be, then this is how it’s gotta be. It’s a shark-eat-shark world that we live in professional wrestling. They know what it is, man. There’s no friends. He said it… and if I’m going to stick with somebody through this whole journey, through this game to get me through, man, it has gotta be my family, even though I do not like it. Like I said, Daniel Bryan, I’m sorry, Brie, I’m sorry. I’m sorry to everybody that had to see that live. If y’all keep testing me, this is what you’re going to get.”

On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Jey Uso defeated Kevin Owens with help from Paul Heyman and a brief distraction caused by Roman Reigns entrance music. If you missed any of SmackDown, check out our live coverage at this link.
