Jeff Jarrett’s Motion To Obtain GFW Amped Master Copies From Anthem Has Been Denied
Jeff Jarrett took his first defeat in his lawsuit against Anthem.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Jarrett’s motion for expedited discovery of GFW Amped master tapes has been denied.
The court denied the motion as it has yet to be confirmed that Anthem has received the original Aug. 10 lawsuit. The court noted that Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment sent the lawsuit to “a registered agent” for Anthem and not Anthem’s attorney. Furthermore, the court stated that they would not know who to send the order to as Anthem has no attorney attached to the case.
Jarrett filed the motion in hopes the court would step in and force Anthem to hand over the GFW master tapes within five days. Jarrett was looking to copy the master tapes as he is filing for copyright on the 16 hours of footage.
GFE and Jarrett argued they needed the tapes by Sept. 8 in order to file with the Copyright Office. The court ruled that Jarrett showed no proof that he couldn’t receive an extension on the deadline.
The court also ruled that the original motion featured no “memorandum of law” that would prove the arguments of Jarrett and GFE.
