JD McDonagh On An Irish Premium Live Event: ‘Never Say Never’

JD McDonagh discusses the possibility of a WWE Premium Live Event heading to Ireland.

JD McDonagh believes Irish fans have earned a Premium Live Event.

WWE are heading to two international destinations in 2024, as WWE Backlash and Bash in Berlin have been officially announced. In 2023, WWE visited Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and the UK to name a few locations.

One location that WWE have yet to visit for a premium live event is Ireland, despite attempts to visit the country in the past. In early 2020, NXT UK were scheduled to visit Dublin for a Premium Live Event. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the show did not go ahead and WWE have not made an attempt to return to the Emerald Isle since.

While speaking to Irish Wrestling Entertainment, native Irishman JD McDonagh was asked by host Gerry Rushe about the possibility an Irish Premium Live Event coming to pass. The Judgment Day member stated that he wants to see the promotion head to Dublin in the future for a Premium Live Event.

“Good Ol’ JR said “Never Say Never in the WWE” Why not Croke Park? This business is so crazy, business is booming everywhere we go, packed to the rafters, 10k people plus. Ireland has clearly been a home run for WWE with Finn, Sheamus, Becky, Lyra, Myself. We’re all pushing for more Irish involvement in WWE, so I don’t think it’s beyond the relam of possibility that we could see a Premium Live Event in Ireland.”

“I don’t see why not the fans are nuts anytime. Everyone asks where I would like to do a premium live event or if we’d go on the road to dream venues. Why not Croke Park? Why not? Bring it on. Let’s do it.” he said

McDonagh has recently been part of multiple high profile matchups since making his way to the main roster earlier this year, and competed in his first Premium Live Event matchup last weekend at Survivor Series, where he featured in the men’s WarGames match.
