Jazz: “I Deserve To Have An Opportunity To Have My Ten Pounds of Gold”
Jazz wants to know why women do not have their own Ten Pounds Of Gold.
The National Wrestling Alliance came back around to the forefront of the professional wrestling scene this year — largely due to the ’10 Pounds Of Gold’ YouTube series that is put together by Dave Lagana. ’10 Pounds Of Gold’ is an on-going series that spotlights competitors such as NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis, NWA National Heavyweight Champion Willie Mack and others who have held or are challenging for those respective titles.
This past October NWA held their 70th Anniversary Show live on FITE TV from the ‘Tennessee State Fairgrounds Arena’ in Nashville. On that card Nick Aldis defeated Cody to become a two-time NWA Worlds Champion, the Crockett Cup was announced for 2019 and Jazz successfully defended her NWA World Women’s Championship against Penelope Ford. Following her match Jazz did a post-match interview and stated that she was coming for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title and during a recent interview that Dave Lagana did with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Dave stated that Jazz was supposed to say she wanted to have her own Ten Pounds Of Gold.
While speaking to ‘Solo Wrestling’, Jazz stated the sentiments above — that she wants her own 10 Pounds Of Gold.
“It was not a challenge.” Jazz clarified. “I told them it is time for women, women not only for Jazz, to be recognized and why I deserve to have an opportunity to have my Ten Pounds of Gold. Why [does] only men have the opportunity to have this goal. I want to represent that, I won my Ten Pounds of Gold.”
Jazz has been NWA World Women’s Champion for a full two years and since Billy Corgan took over as owner of the organization, it has been spotlighted on a grander scale. Jazz was asked for her thoughts on this new era of the NWA since Corgan has taken over and she responded with the following:
“More than 800 days of reign and continuing. Corgan has a vision of what he wants for NWA and I think he is going in the right direction and I am part of his team, which I am proud of and I am happy to carry out what NWA is, the old school.” She said. “It’s what the fans miss — tell a story, work a part of the body, all those things. Jumping from the ropes, doing cartwheels … my girls can do it in three weeks, but if you go out and work one leg during a 20-minute battle, that teaches me that you can fight.”
