Jay White: There’s No Argument, Okada And I Should Main Event Wrestle Kingdom Over Omega/Ospreay
Jay White knows what match should main event Wrestle Kingdom 17.
Wrestle Kingdom 17 is set to be one of the biggest events in recent memory for New Japan Pro Wrestling. The hype for the show is at an all time high due to the rumors of a potential Sasha Banks appearance, as well the highly anticipated return of former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega.
When it comes to the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 17, fans around the world are seemingly divided. Some fans want Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay to main event the show, while some argue that Jay White and Kazuchika Okada should be the headlining bout due to the championship stakes that are involved with the match.
In a new interview with Fightful, Jay White commented on the division among fans regarding the main event bout of Wrestle Kingdom 17.
“It’s really simple. When you think about it, there really is no comparison or argument. It’s not a difficult decision. Two guys are fighting over being one Internet nerds favorite guy. The other two guys are fighting over the most prestigious prize in this entire industry and are fighting over control and the reins of the company leading into 2023. One guy is channeling the memory of the creator of our company to try and take me down. If anybody is going to ask the question about which match is bigger, the two guys fighting over that or the two guys that just want to impress one weird old dude on the internet. Personally, I think that is beneath them, but if that’s how those two, Ospreay and Kenny, want to choose their time, you guys go ahead. I’m not going to say what I think should be last or before, even though I kind of just did, I’m just going to give you guys the information and you can see where I’m coming from.”
A IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match has headlined every Wrestle Kingdom event since Wrestle Kingdom 8.
Elsewhere in the interview, White said that Sasha Banks would make a great Bullet Club member. To learn more, click here.
