Jason Sensation Explains His Suicide Tweet Prior To Raw In Toronto

On Aug. 27, moments before Raw was scheduled to go live from Toronto, Jason Sensation sent out a tweet that read, “I got my gun through security & will shoot myself in the head & kill myself during tonight’s #RAW in Toronto. Don’t ya dare miss it!!! Thanks for the memories @WWE”

Many alerted the police to the tweet, leading the police to search the aisles during Raw. Fortunately, Sensation was never at the arena and was eventually detained by police at his home.

In his first interview since the incident, Sensation spoke to Hannibal TV and opened up about what was going through his mind on that night. “I suffer from depression and mental issues. It’s hard to dive into this whole thing, I don’t want to sugarcoat it either. I’ve got some issues with wrestling and how my career went. I guess I’m very hurt with how my career went in WWE and the way it ended and some of the things that happened to me,” said Sensation. “I stuck through to try to make a career out of it and the fact that I didn’t make a career out of it in WWE, it really hurt me.”

Sensation continued, “They were in town and I was in an emotional state. I was visiting my dad and I had a few drinks with my sister. I passed out and I woke up and I was like, ‘Oh great.’ My dad loves wrestling so much and he’s getting ready to watch Raw and it’s live from Toronto. I went into my depressive state in that moment. Like, ‘You’re there in Toronto, ok.’ I was thinking of whomever I was in contact with in the company, that didn’t come,” said Sensation. “And I was thinking of whomever my friends are in the company — It was very selfish thinking. I’m embarrassed to admit where my my mind was at. It was in a very selfish state. — I woke up, half drunk, and I looked at my phone and was like, ‘No one messaged me.’ No one of my friends going to the show messaged me. No one from the show messaged me.”

As Sensation tells it, he has a history of doing things to get WWE’s attention. He stated, “I had some history with the company where I sent out a whole bunch of shit online. I definitely burned my bridges and they blackballed me from the company forever. It was years ago. Every now and then I say something stupid again because I’m hurting and I’m trying to get a reaction out of them like, ‘Do you even notice me? Do you see me?’ It’s from a place of being hurt and never getting even a mention back again,” he said. “Triple H will sign the wellness program letter to me. He’ll sign it personally and send it to me. But I can’t get a tweet back or a message back online. I feel like I’ve so been blacked out from them that I can never even get their attention. I’ve been sending out stupid shit like that for years”

Not being messaged by anyone in the company, his cry for attention, his depression, and being half-drunk all led him to that night on Aug. 27.

“This was something that I didn’t think through and I didn’t realize there had been a couple of shooting like the officer that had to detain me and handcuff me, explained to me about the shootings in Florida and the game day shooting. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I didn’t even know this was going on.’ I’ve been so out of the loop but I woke up out of this stupid space, I felt like nobody noticed me. It was a very fast pop like, ‘This might get their attention.’ Like, whatever.” He continued, “Then I went back to sleep. My older sister came home, she came running downstairs like, ‘Jason, you don’t understand what you’ve done. I said, ‘It’s okay, don’t worry sis.’ I just deactivated my Twitter. I was half drunk, I don’t even know what I said. The next person down the stairs was an officer.”

Sensation noted that he’s received a lot of negative feedback from the tweet and won’t try to justify it.

“It came from a hurt and sad place, but I wasn’t trying to get that attention this time. It was just me saying, ‘What the fuck ever’ and going back to sleep. I did not put any thought into what I put into that tweet.”

Sensation ended the conversation by saying that he doesn’t want to die and that he regrets sending the tweet. He is best known for his Owen Hart impersonation during the famous DX-Nation of Domination parody in 1998.
