Jack Cartwheel Says He Wanted To Become A Wrestler After Seeing Roman Reigns’ Entrance At WrestleMania 33
Jack Cartwheel recalls a moment at WrestleMania 33 that pushed him to jump into wrestling.
Cartwheel is currently one of the hottest stars in all of independent wrestling, as he has competed for GCW, MCW, FSW, New South Pro Wrestling, and West Coast Pro in 2023 alone. In this year alone, Cartwheel has been able to secure singles wins over the likes of Arez, Jack Evans, Brogan Finlay, and Andrew Everett.
In a new interview the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast, the four year veteran said that he knew he wanted to become a wrestler after watching Roman Reigns make his entrance at WrestleMania 33. Reigns faced and defeated The Undertaker at the event, becoming only the second wrestler in history to defeat ‘The Deadman’ at ‘The Show Of Shows’.
“In terms of when I really wanted to jump into wrestling, it was when I was watching WrestleMania 33 with Roman Reigns walking down that entrance way. I was like, I was in an interesting spot throughout high school and i didn’t know what I wanted to chase or what I wanted to do. I read a strong quote from a guy I still follow, Gary Vaynerchuk, he’s a big fan of wrestling also. He’s like, you don’t want to chase money, you don’t want to chase fame, but chase a feeling and in that moment, when I was watching WrestleMania with my friends — I was like, man, that’s that feeling that I want to chase, something that I can really dig my feet and passion and brain into. It’s been an amazing journey so far and hopefully one day I will get there.”
Cartwheel went on to praise Reigns’ confidence, saying that he was the guy in WWE at the time, despite many fans not thinking so.
“It was just the confidence, walking down there, the visual of it. He was that guy, even at Mania 33 when it didn’t seem like that to many people. It’s not like I was a huge Roman Reigns fan at the time either, but everything’s coming here for this moment, this is just exciting. I kind of put myself in that point of view and my phone screen for the longest time was that entrance way from the gates, looking at the crowd and how amazing and mystical and over the top that could be. That’s a feeling I wanted to chase and I’m learning throughout this process, that feeling isn’t the pinnacle. That feeling happens every single week and just gets better and better the more controlled and confident I can be in this journey if that makes sense.”
