Intercontinental Championship Match Set For 6/4 WWE SmackDown, Commander Azeez Banned From Ringside
Kevin Owens will have another opportunity to capture the Intercontinental Championship.
On the May 28 episode of SmackDown, Owens faced Apollo Crews in a non-title match. He seemed set to win after hitting a stunner, but it ended in disqualification after Commander Azeez delivered the Nigerian Nail to Owens’ throat.
Backstage, and still having difficulty breathing, Owens asked that Adam Pearce give him a title opportunity but with Azeez banned from ringside. Pearce agreed and made it official for next week, June 4th.
This will be Owens’ third Intercontinental Championship match since April 23rd. In that bout, Crews rolled up KO after a distraction by Commander Azeez. He was also a part of the fatal-four-way match for the belt that took place last week. It was a returning Aleister Black who helped Crews on that night, though, by hitting the Black Mass on Big E.
