Injured SmackDown Star Cleared To Return To The Ring

The Wyatt Family is fracturing and now another member will be forced to choose a side.

Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan has been cleared to return to in-ring action.

Rowan, who has been out since October after surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, was last seen on SmackDown in this segment.

You can see that Randy Orton was searching for Bray Wyatt through out the backstage area, and was apparently ambushed by Rowan off camera. Orton later appeared behind Wyatt during a promo, wearing Rowan's sheep mask.

Rowan hasn't been back since.

And a lot has changed. Luke Harper returned from his own injury at No Mercy, and Randy Orton joined the Wyatt Family soon after. Harper never seemed to fully trust his new adopted brother, even though Orton helped Bray secure the SmackDown Tag Titles at TLC in December.

Harper then inadvertently cost the Wyatts the titles a few weeks later, and a falling out occurred, with Bray choosing Orton over Harper.

Harper has been feuding with Orton and Bray ever since.

Orton won the Royal Rumble to become #1 Contender, but gave up that right when Bray became WWE Champion at Elimination Chamber two weeks later.

And now, Harper has a shot tonight to become the new #1 Contender by beating AJ Styles on this evening's episode of SmackDown.

If Rowan does indeed make his return tonight, there are a lot of options for how they might decide to use him.

Rowan, for his part, isn't talking.

Instead, he's posting super creepy short films on his Twitter:

 The plot thickens.
