IMPACT Wrestling Hires Former WWE Executive Andrew Whitaker
IMPACT Wrestling reached out to former WWE executive Andrew Whitaker to help deal with the fallout of the show changing time slots.
As reported on Oct. 12, IMPACT Wrestling is moving from 8 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET every Thursday on POP TV. The change will begin next Thursday, Oct. 25.
Damon Martin of SEScoops reports Whitaker not only used to work for WWE, but GLORY kickboxing as well. Prior to signing with IMPACT, he was consulting from his own company out of Stamford, Connecticut. According to Martin, the the deal between Whitaker and IMPACT is more than just Whitaker helping IMPACT following their time slot change.
Whitaker has ties to the Paramount Network — formerly SPIKE TV — and the company hopes that Whitaker can help them get back on the network. Paramount has shown no interest in getting back into the wrestling business, choosing instead to focus on their original programming and Bellator. IMPACT Wrestling aired on SPIKE TV from October 2005 to December 2014.
Along with a changing time slot, production has suffered at IMPACT. Head of television Michael Vettor reportedly reached out to MLW production members, hoping to secure their services for IMPACT’s Bound For Glory event and New York television tapings.
