IMPACT World Title Bout Filled With TNA Callbacks At IMPACT Slammiversary
Eric Young and Josh Alexander paid tribute to the past.
Alexander retained the IMPACT World Championship in the main event of Slammiversary, defeating Eric Young with the C4 Spike onto the exposed boards of the ring.
The story of the bout was Alexander and Young paying tribute to the 20 year history of TNA/IMPACT but using moves from former champions in the company.
Young used the Black Hole Slam (Abyss) along with The Stroke (Jeff Jarrett) while Alexander performed a face wash and corner uranage (Samoa Joe), locked in an Ankle Lock (Kurt Angle) on Young while later hitting an Olympic Slam on Doering through a table along. Alexander would also use the Styles Clash (AJ Styles), and Best Moonsault Ever (Christopher Daniels) during the bout.
Young even pulled out the tried and true ref bump followed by a guitar shot, a staple of Jarrett’s NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title reign during the TNA days, but Alexander managed to kick out.
