Ian “Doc” Dean Passes Away At The Age Of 48

Wrestling lost another one on Tuesday as Ian “Doc” Dean passed away at the age of 48.

Dean is best known for his run in All Star Wrestling throughout the mid-80s and 90s. He teamed with Robbie Brookside as part of the Liverpool Lads, eventually turning on Brookside to kick off a heated feud between the two. He and Brookside won the ASW Tag Team Titles on two separate occasions. Individually, he won the ASW British Welterweight Title twice.

He made his WCW debut in early 1997, often losing on WCW Saturday Night. “Doc” took part in the 1997 Best of the Super Junior IV tournament in NJPW. He defeated Jushin Liger and Chavo Guerrero Jr. in the tournament. Fresh off his big victory over Liger, Dean returned to WCW, where he once again played his role as an enhancement talent.

He wrestled his last televised match on July 7, 1998, losing to Rick Fuller on WCW Saturday Night.

RIP “Doc” Dean.
