Shida defeated Toni Storm to win the AEW Women’s World Championship on the August 2 episode of AEW Dynamite. Meanwhile, Athena reigns supreme as the ROH Women’s World Champion; she won the gold at ROH Final Battle 2022.
In an interview with Ella Jay for SEScoops, Shida was asked if there’s anyone she wants to face, and she named Athena. She made it clear that she has wanted to share the ring with Athena for a long time.
“Yeah, actually, I have one name. It’s Athena. We had just one single at SHIMMER. It was a long time ago, but I really love that much. I’m watching her for a long time, of course, in AEW but before when she was in the other company, I saw her long time and always she’s good. So yeah, I believe in this reign I wrestle her. I really want to,” Shida said.
