Heather Monroe Discusses The Lack Of Women’s Tag Teams On The Independent Scene

Heather Monroe gives her reasoning as to why there aren’t a plethora of women’s tag teams on the independent scene.

Tag team wrestling is arguably more prominent now than it has ever been in the history of the sport. While major companies such as WWE have a set of Tag Team Championships for each brand, other promotions like AEW have both Tag Team Championships and Trios Championships. There are even some companies out there such as IMPACT Wrestling that have a separate set of tag team belts for the men’s division and the women’s division.

In a new interview with WrestleZone, Heather Monroe talked about the lack of consistent women’s tag teams on independent scene, noting that she thinks it’s because certain partners aren’t booked together very often.

“Well I think in general, there’s not a lot of all women tag teams and even when there are, people don’t book them together. It’s like oh, we wanna book you with this other girl and put you with this other girl and it’s like well I literally have a tag team partner so why would you not put me with her. But, I think that’s the biggest thing is like there are a lot of tag teams, but not a lot of them are all female tag teams and a lot of all female tag teams don’t get booked. There’s tons that are put together and then they [work well together], but it’s very rare that you’ll have two girls be like ‘We’re gonna be better together.’ Like, there’s plenty on like… IMPACT has some really good ones and obviously NWA has some good ones too, but there’s not a whole lot on the indies going for it.”

Monroe herself is currently in a tag team with Ray Lyn, known to some fans as ‘Blonde Force Trauma’. The duo are currently hold the BCW Tag Team Championships, which they originally won back in March.

In 2022 alone, Monroe has competed in promotions like Generation Championship Wrestling, Southern Honor Wrestling, Garden State Pro Wrestling, along with many more.
